Prof Zhemin Zhou has been engaged in bacterial genomics and population genetics research for more than ten years, and has published 78 SCI papers with a total of 8003 citations and an H-factor of 43. He published in Nature Microbiology, Nature Food, Lancet Microbe, Nature Communications and Genome Research, etc., including three ESI highly cited papers and two recommended by Nature Reviews Genetics and Nature News.
Specifically, he has been working in three areas: (1) Developed the microbial “equilibrium evolutionary model” and a theoretical framework for evaluating the impact of human activities on the global evolution and spread of microorganisms. (2) Established cgMLST and EnteroBase, providing data and technical basis for microbiologists from 127 countries. (3) Built a computational framework for accurate identification of infection outbreaks using metagenome, decoding the Mycoplasma pneumonia outbreak in China in the winter of 2023.
